Profile

He was born in Yonezawa City in 1980 as the fifth-generation successor of a textile weaving family. In addition to being selected 16 times for the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition between 2009 and 2025, he has received numerous other awards. In recent years, his accolades include the Encouragement Prize at the 59th Eastern Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award and the Grand Prix at the Yonezawa Textile New Works Exhibition, and the Kimono no Mori Award at the 4th Japan Wa Culture Grand Prix.

Yonezawahira “KouKou”

自信と誇りをもたらし、特別な時間(とき)を一層引き立てるような煌びやか縞を70色の絹糸を使用し、手織りで織り上げた袴地です。第71回日本伝統工芸展 入選作品。

This hakama fabric is handwoven using 70 colors of silk thread to create gorgeous stripes that bring confidence and pride and enhance special occasions. Selected for the 71st Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition.
